Located in Fort McMurray Alberta, MacDonald Island Park is Canada’s largest community recreation, leisure and social centre. The Island is home to Suncor Community Leisure Centre, Miskanaw Golf Club and Shell Place.

  • Suncor Community Leisure Centre

    The 450,000 sq. ft. Suncor Community Leisure Centre quickly became one of the most popular leisure, fitness, and recreational attractions in Fort McMurray. Since opening in 2010, SCLC has welcomed millions of visitors.

  • Miskanaw Golf Club

    With a tranquil environment, the Miskanaw Golf Course features an Island Green that holds 10,000,000 gallons of recycled water, a wide variety of challenging holes for all skill levels, and a beautiful restaurant featuring the best patio in town, at the Fox Den Patio and Grill.

  • Shell Place

    Shell Place, opened in June 2015, encompasses SMS Equipment Stadium, Legacy Dodge Field, Indoor Turf Field House, High Performance Training Centre and the Don Scott McMurray Law Office Badminton Centre. In addition to these amenities, Shell Place also boasts meeting, conference and event spaces and full hospitality services, as well as being home to the Redpoll Centre, a non-profit hub operated by the United Way of Fort McMurray.

    Our professional trainers specialize in teaching programs like BabyFit Bootcamp, Triple Threat Fitness and spin to help you reach your goals & stay motivated.

  • Arts & Culture

    MacDonald Island Park is home to the MiDance Academy, the MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery presented by the Kirschner Family Corporation and many visual arts programs and workshops.

  • Aquatics

    The Syncrude Aquatic Centre shines as an example of aquatic excellence with its 54m Olympic swimming pool, diving boards, warm water leisure pool, family waterpark, whirlpools, lazy river and waterslides. The Syncrude Aquatic Centre hosts daily swim lessons, courses and various community groups.

  • Kid's Clubhouse

    Safe, fun and engaging drop-in child minding services for children ages 2 months to 10 years old!

  • Climbing

    The MacDonald Island Park climbing wall is professionally textured to look and feel like a real rock face. The wall features 14 anchor routes, 3 auto belay routes and plenty of bouldering opportunities.

  • Dance

    The MacDonald Island Dance Academy is a full service dance studio providing education in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical and hip hop. We offer high quality instruction in a fun and welcoming environment.

  • Personal Training

    With a diverse group of personal trainers specializing in a variety of different topics, we are sure to have a highly educated trainer that suits your needs. From pregnancy to specialized athletic training, we have a trainer for you!

  • Training & Courses

    Get the training you need to ensure safety for those around you. Our professional staff teach various Lifesaving Society Lifeguard and Red Cross First Aid courses for ages 8 and up.

  • Sport

    We have sports of all sorts! With new programs added regularly, we are constantly providing new and fun leagues and programs for all ages.


  • Biological Burgeon

    The Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery at MacDonald Island Park is pleased to present to the community a new exhibition by local artist Andrea Brasch, also known as Andy M, named Biological Burgeon. The Biological Burgeon exhibition will be available for viewing from September 2 – November 27.

  • Oktoberfest at MacDonald Island Park

    From pretzels to pilsners, this annual event is set to be barrels and barrels of fun! Join us September 28th for the fourth annual Oktoberfest at MacDonald Island Park.

  • NCAFM Annual Gala Night

    The Nigerian Canadian Association of Fort McMurray (NCAFM) presents our Annual Gala Night in honour of Nigerian Independence on October 1st, 1960. It is a night of celebration as we showcase and teach about the richness of Nigerian culture through arts, music, dance and a variety of performances.
