Facility Updates - January 8

On December 8, 2020 the Government of Alberta announced new restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19. These restrictions include the closure of all recreation centres in the province, including aquatic centres and fitness facilities. On January 7, 2021, the Government of Alberta announced the extension of these restrictions until January 21, 2021.

In alignment with the extension of restrictions, MacDonald Island Park will remain closed to the public. The MacDonald Island Park closure includes both the Suncor Community Leisure Centre and Shell Place. All amenities within these facilities are closed, including the Syncrude Aquatic Centre and the Legacy Dodge Fitness Centre.

All annual, group, and continuous memberships have been put on hold until we are able to re-open our facilities. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your Membership, please contact Guest Services by email at [email protected]

The current measures allow retail business to remain open under certain restrictions. As such, the Miskanaw Golf Club Pro Shop will remain open. In addition, two outdoor leisure skating rinks are now open daily from 8am – 10pm at MacDonald Island Park (please note that due to the building closure, no washrooms, food services or warm-up facilities are available).

We will provide updates as more information is available, and look forward to welcoming our Members and guests back as soon as we are able to do so!
